About
iSCAL is the place where organizers meet students. This project started as a calendar where visitors could filter and see activities they could attend in order to widen their knowledge and skills. Over a course of a year, it emerged into much richer interface, including a login system for everyone in order to save their preferences and get recommendations, but also exclusive parts of the system designated for organizers to be able to manage their own activities and admins to moderate content.
Humans and bots
The database in its base designation relies on organizers to input their data using our rich interfaces to show to visitors. Why? This way it can be the most precise, it is an one-time action and takes only about a minute. The main plus? Hosting institutions receive recognition and visitors receive what they want. However, the team behind the database also has automated scraper equipment which can do it even faster.

This project was presented at Night of Scientists (from Slovak "Noc Výskumníkov"), regional and national rounds of Festival of Science and Technology (from Slovak "FVAT - Festival Vedy a Techniky") and EU Contest for Young Scientists (EUCYS) 2023.
